HIRING: Marketing & Business Associate

Del Shakes seeks an arts or nonprofit associate with strong marketing background/interest to support its year-round programming and help the company continue to grow. Specifically, the Marketing & Business Associate will oversee and implement marketing and public relations tasks, work with a bookkeeper to process all company financial transactions, develop and implement earned income opportunities, and, in tandem with the Producing Artistic Director, Board, and other team members, represent the company in various external affairs.

MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS DUTIES

  • Oversee and implement marketing and publicity efforts for summer festival, community tour, bonus programming, special events, and institutional brand identity.
  • Create promotional graphics for smaller events/offerings and social media; design programs and annual report
    • InDesign and Photoshop skills required
    • A separate design company creates show art for full productions
  • Serve as part of rotating on-site staff for performance programs and events
  • Coordinate with Producing Artistic Director to represent the company at Del Shakes events, community meetings, and select external affairs
  • Coordinate with development staff for fundraising event planning and implementation

BUSINESS DUTIES

  • Identify and pursue new or increased sources of earned income (group sales, hospitality tent sales, special events, etc.)
  • Provide necessary information to Del Shakes bookkeeper to facilitate accurate financial recordkeeping (process contractor letters of agreement and share payment dates/rates; pull income reports from ticket service and Square; etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining and operating PatronManager database and ticket sales
  • Coordinate box office and front of house financial procedures with Associate Producer and House Manager for Summer Festival

Requirements:

  • Part-time employee, averages 20 hours a week over the course of a year, change seasonally between 10-15 hours (winter/spring) to 25-30 hours (summer/fall).
  • Work at home is an option, but 1-2 days a week in office are required along with occasional on-site work for performances and events
  • Position requires flexible time schedule during typical Monday-Friday work hours, and ability to work some evenings and weekends during performance periods
  • Current staff uses their own computers with Microsoft Office (Del Shakes office environment is slightly “tech start-up”)
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn QuickBooks, WordPress, MyEmma, Patron Manager/Salesforce, Dropbox, Google Docs, Gmail, graphic design software (Photoshop/InDesign), Microsoft Office, and social media platforms a plus
  • Knowledge of Delaware community and organizations. Delaware residents are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Flexible transportation optimal

QUALITIES DESIRED

Professional, self-starter, detailed-oriented, solid writer, entrepreneurial spirit, good-spirited, compassionate, and an excitement for Del Shakes and the future of the organization. Bachelor’s degree in Arts Marketing/Management or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).

PAY

$21/hr. Based on average of 20 hours a week, yearly salary would be approximately $21,800. Associate will receive two weeks vacation (40 personal hours).
