After the first week of rehearsals, Ife Foy (DSF’s Tranio) shared a few thoughts about where she is in the process of creating her role.
Upon completing the first week of rehearsal for The Taming of the Shrew, I am not only excited, but terrified! Before rehearsal began, I had the sense that Tranio drove a great deal of the action within the play. However, I didn’t know what that would require of me as the actor. Tranio transforms from servant to lord in a matter of scenes and never seems to stumble after he makes this huge transformation. It is as though he’s been waiting to play a lord his entire life.
