2024 SEASON GENERAL ACTOR CALL
SEEKING
Delaware Shakespeare is accepting submissions from non-AEA actors for general consideration in the 2024 Season. Actors are welcome to submit for an in-person appointment, or to send a video audition. Productions will include Julius Caesar directed by Tai Verley, for the Summer Festival, and a TBA Shakespeare play for the Community Tour.
Rehearsals for Julius Caesar are tentatively scheduled to begin June 18th, 2024 and will be held on weeknights/weekend days, with a tentative run of July 17th – August 4th, 2024 on the grounds of Rockwood Park in Wilmington, DE. The Community Tour schedule is still being finalized, but will most likely begin rehearsals in late August with a run through mid-September to early October.
In addition to the full productions, Del Shakes will also produce a variety of programs throughout the year, and actors will be considered for casting opportunities in these, as well.
Del Shakes actively casts BIPOC actors through color-conscious casting, and looks for opportunities to cast female-identifying and non-binary actors in traditionally male roles.
Del Shakes is unable to provide housing or travel stipends, and therefore works almost completely with Delaware and Philadelphia-area artists.
No roles or project offers will be made as a result of these initial auditions. Actors may be contacted at other points throughout the year for project-specific auditions.
All artists this season will be non-Equity.
COMPENSATION
Non-Equity actors will be paid $395/week for the Summer Festival and $565/week for the Community Tour (which involves more hours and requires schedule flexibility/shifting performance environments).
Readings and understudies are all compensated, at different rates per project.
INSTRUCTIONS
In-person auditions will be held on January 20 at OperaDelaware Studios in Wilmington from 10a-6p. To be considered for an in-person audition, please email headshot/resume to auditions@delshakes.org. Feel free to inquire about any COVID protocols for in-person auditions.
