Delaware Shakespeare is accepting headshots and resumes for actors for its 2020 season, including the Summer Festival production of The Tempest, directed by David Stradley, and the fall Community Tour production of a new musical adaptation of Twelfth Night, created by Liz Filios and Robi Hager (director TBA). Female and non-binary performers will be considered for some traditionally male roles. Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend, as well as actors who play musical instruments. Casting is mainly for non-Equity actors, but Del Shakes does use 4-6 Equity actors each year on a Guest Artist Tier II contract.
Monologue/song auditions: Saturday, January 4 from 10am-6pm. Auditions by appointment only.
Rehearsals for The Tempest are tentatively scheduled to begin June 16 and will be held on weeknights/weekend days, with a tentative run of July 17-August 2 on the grounds of Rockwood Park in Wilmington, DE.
To be considered for an audition, please email headshot/resume to auditions@delshakes.org. All roles for The Tempest significantly exceed Barrymore-minimum weekly fee. The role of Prospero will likely be cast by the time of monologue/song auditions.
Twelfth Night schedule is still being finalized, but will most likely begin rehearsals on September 22 with a run of October 22-November 15.
Monologue and song auditions will also be used for casting considerations for smaller-scale Del Shakes programming, including seasonal Halloween and Valentine’s reading events.
Please note: Del Shakes does not provide artist housing. No phone calls please.
