FREE! Join us for a speed-round of every single play Shakespeare ever wrote – in the course of one hour, in the open air. 38 plays. From All’s Well that Ends Well to The Winter’s Tale.
In 2016, the world celebrated the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death (which is also rumored to be the same day as his birth). Cities, states, and countries far and wide hosted April events honoring Shakespeare’s legacy that year, and Delaware Shakespeare launched what has now become an annual tradition: SHAKESPEARE DAY.
We continue to celebrate the Bard’s birth by holding SHAKESPEARE DAY annually, and traveling to all three counties of Delaware. We’ve welcomed hundreds of curious citizens to Wilmington (twice), Rehoboth Beach and Dover since 2016. In 2020, we visit downtown Milford on Thursday, April 16 as part of Milford’s grand Third Thursday celebration.

Want to step up to the mic for your 15 seconds of Shakespeare glory? Each year we recruit 40+ volunteers (and a few professional “ringers”). We’ve had pastors. Drummers. Teachers. Writers. Media. Homeschoolers. Ice cream makers. Brewmasters. Could be you…
Each person or group delivers around 20-30 seconds of dialogue.
You’ll hear a selection from every Shakespeare play performed in a whirlwind fashion downtown — a fun, light-hearted event that honors the dizzying diversity of Shakespeare’s writing and the vibrancy of downtown spaces.
To be in our audience, please join us starting at 5:30pm on Thursday, April 16 – we will announce the exact outdoor location as the date approaches. The event should last about an hour.
