In association with its 2018 summer production of Much Ado About Nothing (directed by Bi Jean Ngo), Delaware Shakespeare offers apprenticeships for college students who wish to gain professional experience before graduation. Apprentices work with Del Shakes’ professional directors, actors, designers, and staff to gain hands-on experience both on and off the stage. Del Shakes offers performance, directing, production/stage management, and management/front-of-house apprenticeships. All apprenticeships besides management apprenticeships begin June 12, 2018. The start date for management apprenticeships is negotiable. Much Ado rehearses nights and weekends, and runs from July 13-29. The apprentice program completes on July 30, 2018.
All apprentices will be offered a series of Master Classes. Along with the professional Del Shakes technical staff, ALL APPRENTICES will perform set-up and strike duties each day of tech and performances. Modest stipend. College credit may be available. Apprentices need to supply their own housing. Having access to a car makes travel to and from the Wilmington rehearsal and performance locations much each easier. Interviews/auditions to be held in Wilmington on Saturday, March 24 from 10am-1pm.
To apply, please email a resume, two references (contact information only), and a cover letter explaining your interest in the program to apprentice@delshakes.org by March 21. Performance apprentices should also include a headshot. Please also see the College Apprentice Page for more information.
