(As of 9/1/21)
Del Shakes will follow all Delaware Division of Public Health guidelines. Please continue to check here for updated audience guidelines.
According to the CDC: “If you want to spend time with people who don’t live with you, outdoors is the safer choice! You are less likely to be exposed to COVID-19 during outdoor activities…COVID-19 spreads more easily indoors than outdoors.”
To further increase the safety of attending A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Rodney Square will be a “masks highly encouraged” zone during performances. We encourage all audience members, regardless of their vaccination status, to wear a mask. Del Shakes ushers and volunteers will be wearing masks – and offering masks to those in attendance.
Del Shakes requests audience members to please refrain from attending if they are sick or symptomatic.
To eliminate long lines at concessions and restrooms, there will be no intermission with the performance lasting approximately 90 minutes.
To encourage social distancing, Del Shakes will delineate spaced seating rows on the grass at Rodney Square.
To ease the seating process, there will be no section division between blankets, low-back/beach chairs, and high-backed chairs. Out of consideration for fellow audience members, we recommend only blankets or chairs with backs no higher than 30″.
The program will be digital, accessed via patrons’ smartphones.
While patrons are allowed to bring their own food for picnicking before and during the performance, the use of tables and other large items often part of a picnic spread is discouraged due to limited seating space.
All t-shirt purchases must be made via credit or debit card. There will be no cash transactions.
Hand sanitizer stations will be provided in the audience seating area.
All staff will be required to wear masks at all times, except actors when performing on stage.
Actors will perform on the wide staircase on the Market Street side of Rodney Square, at least 25’ from any patrons.
Delaware Shakespeare staff and performing artists are all fully vaccinated, take weekly COVID tests, are required to complete a daily health screening survey, and will be temperature-checked upon arrival every day. Staff will be sent home if they are not feeling well.
