(As of 6/17/21)
Del Shakes will follow current CDC and Delaware Division of Public Health guidelines. Please continue to check here for updated audience guidelines. If guidelines change after you have purchased a ticket and you are no longer comfortable with the guidelines, please feel free to contact us at email@example.com to discuss your options.
Del Shakes requests audience members to please refrain from attending if they are sick or symptomatic. (Refunds will be offered.)
Audience capacity will be approximately 180 people per performance. (Audience size could increase depending on public health guidelines.)
In line with current CDC recommendations, masks will be optional for vaccinated audience members. Unvaccinated audience members are asked to wear masks upon entering the Festival grounds. Once seated, unvaccinated audience members may remove their masks. At all other times, masks should be worn by unvaccinated audience members. Del Shakes staff and volunteers will be wearing masks.
To eliminate long lines at concessions and restrooms, there will be no intermission with performances lasting between 60-75 minutes.
All tickets must be purchased electronically, with advance purchase strongly recommended. There will be no cash, check, or credit card transactions at the box office. Pending availability, anyone who wants to purchase a walk-up ticket will use their personal mobile device to complete the purchase and no money will change hands.
All audience members will be led to their seating area by an usher. Patrons will be seated with 3’ distance between all parties in accordance with current Delaware Division of Public Health guidelines. All members of a party must be present at time of seating.
To ease the seating process, there will be no section division between blankets, low-back/beach chairs, and high-backed chairs. Out of consideration for fellow audience members, we recommend low-back/beach chairs for 2021.
The program will be digital, accessed via patrons’ smartphones.
While patrons are allowed to bring their own food for picnicking before and during the performance, the use of tables and other large items often part of a picnic spread is discouraged due to limited seating space.
Food selections and merchandise at the concession stand will be reduced to minimize transactions, limit hand-to-hand exchanges, and prevent lines. If a line does develop, there will be clear social distancing markers to follow. All concession purchases must be made via credit or debit card. There will be cash transactions for food or merchandise.
Hand sanitizer stations will be provided in the audience seating area.
At the end of the performance, patrons will be asked to exit one row at a time in an orderly manner as instructed by Delaware Shakespeare staff.
All staff will be required to wear masks at all times, except actors when performing on stage.
Actors will perform on a raised lawn directly behind Rockwood Mansion, at least 13’ from any patrons. There will be no more than five performers on stage at any time, and performers will maintain social distance as part of their staging.
Delaware Shakespeare staff will be required to complete a health screening survey each morning and will be temperature-checked upon arrival every day. Staff will be sent home if they are not feeling well.
Any actor who is present for more than one performance a week will take a weekly COVID-19 test.
