Delaware Shakespeare is proud to announce our Julius Caesar Mock Trial Fundraiser! This event will take place on Saturday, June 1st from 5P-8P in the Delaware Historical Society’s stately Old Town Hall building.
This unique event will highlight the theme of justice that runs throughout Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Julius Caesar. Professional lawyers from the Delaware community will plead the cases of The Conspirators for their murder of Caesar versus The Republic of Rome who now mourn the loss of their beloved ruler, Caesar, while the entire audience serves as the jury. A collection of professional judges will oversee the proceedings as well as the star-studded live testimonies from Brutus, Cassius, Mark Antony, and Calpurnia (all performed by Del Shakes actors). But it will ultimately be up to the jury to determine which side wins as they “weigh in” with their own votes.
Join us for a unique confluence of law and theatre to support Del Shakes. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served prior to the program. Help us cultivate excitement for the 2024 Summer Festival production of Julius Caesar in Rockwood Park from July 18th through August 4th.
In the case of The Republic of Rome vs. The Conspirators, who will come out on top? Will the conspirators, Brutus and Cassius, be found not guilty for their murder of Caesar? Or will the Republic with the assistance of Mark Antony and Calpurnia succeed in their pleas of justice for their dear friend and husband, Julius Caesar. An exploration in justice, humanity, and conviction, it is sure to be an event you don’t want to miss.
