Summer Festival at Rockwood Park
Whether you’re a longtime Del Shakes fan, or it’s your first time joining us at Rockwood Park, we’re thrilled to welcome you. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your Summer Festival experience!
General Guidelines
- Gates open 75 minutes before showtime. Arrive early to pick your preferred spot!
- Performances take place outdoors, so please dress for the weather and consider bringing bug spray, sunscreen, and layers. Note: The grass is treated with repellent to cut down on mosquitoes and bugs.
- Food and drinks are welcome! Bring a picnic or enjoy on-site vendors.
- Performances are rain or shine unless severe weather threatens safety. We’ll update you via our social media if anything changes.
Parking
- Parking is free in the lower lot of Rockwood Park as well as at the top of the hill. All parking is first come, first served.
- From there, it’s a short but steep walk uphill to the performance area.
- If anyone in your party has mobility or accessibility needs, you’re welcome to drop off directly in front of the Rockwood Mansion, near the ticket booth. Look for signage and Festival staff to assist.

Sensory-Friendly Information
We strive to make the Festival a space where everyone feels comfortable and included.
- Lighting:
- The first half of the show relies on natural light (especially during the long summer evenings).
- As it gets darker, stage lighting gradually becomes active, but we avoid overwhelming effects.
- Our Sunday, July 27th “Relaxed Performance” is held earlier in the evening and benefits from more natural light and softer lighting cues.

- Sound:
- We use a network of evenly spaced speakers across the lawn to provide clear, balanced sound throughout the space.
- There may be some loud moments (music, action), but we always aim for a comfortable listening environment.

- Our Approach:
- We know the outdoor setting is different from traditional theatre, and that’s a good thing! You’re welcome to move around, step away, or take breaks at any time.
- If a moment feels too bright, loud, or emotionally intense, please take care of yourself. We support and encourage that.
